How much does it cost to replace a Lower control Arm?

I have a 96 Chevy Beretta with a small block 3.1 V6 that has been making a thumping noise. My mechanic said that my lower control arm bushings was non-existent, but I have drove on them for about 15k miles since then. So i was just going to have him replace the whole control arm but i was wondering how much it was going to cost me and about how long it would take? Also if i would be able to do this myself. I have a basic knowledge of working on cars. How much does it cost to replace a Lower control Arm?

The job is easy and about 1 hour to perform. If your ball joint is good you can save over $100 by just replacing the bushings(the failed parts). You can replace the control arm yourself but the bushings need to be pressed out and back in. A good mechanic can do the bushing job in less than a hour and without totally removing the arm from the car. I know because I have done a few.
sure you could do it not real hard with right tools and know how ive done a few might be a bit cheaper and really doesnt hurt to repair your own sometimes type into search box
