Is the cost of living out of control in the UK?

It would seem that the difference between the rich and the poor is gaining somewhat.

With more and more of us having to find work on a minimum wage and struggling with huge rent (which really winds me up as I used to run a sucessful business and owned my own house), I thought I'd pull out a few figures to show just how much things have gone up in 5 years.

Deisel - was .80p a litre, now 拢1.06

Birmingham Travel Inn hotel - was 拢42.95, now 拢71

Rent on 1 bed flat in Croydon, Surrey was 拢600 pm, now 拢650

Credit card interest was 17.9% now 22.9%

Gas and electricity - up to double the cost,

Food - no idea, but it's certainly shot up too.

I'd like some examples if you have them.

Do you feel any better off financially than you did 5 years ago, or are you also feeling the pinch? Is the cost of living out of control in the UK?
I'm not sure about the UK but, it ain't any better here in the USA!~!~

It seems our Government is 'hell-bent' on getting rid of the 'Middle-class'.....and the 'sad' part is, THEY'RE SUCCEEDING!

Soon there will only be the Very rich and the Very poor.Is the cost of living out of control in the UK?
The cost of living is out of this world all over the planet. When income versus living costs versus the common person.... the person comes out on the short end of the stick.
