What are property taxes for a house, who decides how much they cost and who controls them?

Property taxes for a house are those taxes due to the school district, the municipality and/or the county in which that property is located. Taxes are based on the assessment of the property.

The decision is made how much the property'[s owner will pay by the area's school board, the local municipality and/or the county assessor's or assessment office.

If any one is unhappy with the amount of taxes he/she/they are paying or with the assessment of the property, there is a procedure to have the property re-assessed.

That person should contact the local municipality and the county's assessment or assessor's office.

Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!
