What has the government done to control health care costs?

I'm on a team that is working on a presentation concerning health care costs. Well, one of my team mates just dropped out of college and I'm having a difficult time finding concrete information concerning how the government has, in the past and currently, attempted to control rising health costs. The only information I've found involves caps and rules and regulations on Medicare and Medicaid. I would greatly appreciate credible information along with the site the information was found.

Thank you! What has the government done to control health care costs?
NOthing. Controls govt put on costs are circumvented. Mandates to give service no matter what drive up costs. %26amp; increased doctor %26amp; hospital liability, brought on by govt, raise [prices exponentially....the govt does nothing well. They should stay out of health care. What has the government done to control health care costs?
Quite simply, they don't! And private health insurance providers love it, it's what allows them to offer such low quality service and make such high profits. Most private health care providers are local monopolies, with no competition, they can dictate the prices they charge for service and aren't beholden to anyone to offer it.

The exception is medicare and medicaid, these are the government's version of health care providers. They don't control rising health care costs, but they do spend their money more wisely.
Nothing

Government Control is definatly the answer, they are so good at doing things.
