Do employers have the right to hire healthy workers and control insurance costs?

What do you think and why?Do employers have the right to hire healthy workers and control insurance costs?
Not always. In some cases you simply can't tell if a person is healthy. Some people just seem to get sick from the slightest thing. There's really no way to tell if a person is like that or not. You hire the one you think is best qualified from the applicant pool and hope for the best.

Healthy has another connotation, those with disabilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act makes it illegal not to hire a qualified person because they have a disability. The term is ';reasonable accommodation';. A couple of examples would be things like the following. Providing an appropriate chair with necessary support is a reasonable accommodation. Providing a desk that will accommodate a wheelchair is a reasonable accommodation. Some people think ';reasonable accommodation goes to far. Some people think it doesn't go far enough. I guess it depends on your point of view.

However, if the job requires physical ability, such as lifting heavy weights, you can test job applicants and see if they can lift a given weight.Do employers have the right to hire healthy workers and control insurance costs?
Technically, legally,, No,,,

However, how would you ever prove they were discriminating you, if they did,
