Yet, if you don't have decent health insurance or any health insurance, most patients get charged exorbitant prices for their care! Why should anyone have to go into serious debt for care? It seems like the executives of these hospitals are taking advantage of the situation and extorting people!
This is why they can hire all sorts of people, even the dregs of society, and buy all kinds of machines! What's worse, the pharmaceutical industry hikes up their costs by using their drug rep minions to buy expensive lunches, dinners and outings for doctors to bribe them! That is outrageous! I used to work at a restaurant and whenever I needed to charge a rep extra, they didn't care, they'd tell me to put on a huge tip too! All that BS about needing to keep patents in order to recoup the costs of researching the drug are total garbage!
I think hospitals and drug companies need to get their costs in line! Every other industry has had to, why not the medical industry? Is the management of American hospitals and healthcare systems out of control, cost-wise?
I agree with you. You hear so many people talking about a national health care plan. I do not agree with that at all. If we did that we would just transfer the cost to our already struggling federal budget. I would love to see some regulation on how much providers can charge for certain services. I would also like for drug companies to be required to disclose the actual cost for manufacturing drugs and have a set percentage above that they can charge.
I also thing insurance companies need a bit of regulation as well. They get away with charging what ever they feel like. They also make so many variable and rules to confuse people as to what plan would be right for them. In the end most people end up paying for something that does not help them at all.
By doing this it would make things so much affordable for all Americans. More companies would be able to afford to provide insurance to their employees. Is the management of American hospitals and healthcare systems out of control, cost-wise?
One thing Lawsuites. The whole reason we need health insurance.
It is
and the founder of the Health Care system in the USA wasn't a Corporation.....
Yes, it is out of control. 86% of people in this country have health insurance, and we have some of the best quality health care. You'd think this would lead to lower costs, but it doesn't. Health care is allowed to be a localized monopoly, hospitals don't really compete that much what with health coverage networks. The result is they can charge what they want to make profits.
This is why we should have elected John McCain, to force health insurance providers to compete with each other to offer the best quality plans instead of letting them decide everything.
