Honestly, none of them prevent smells after awhile. I keep a stash of cheap zip top bags or even Target bags, seal it up, and throw it in the trash. Works just as well as the diaper genie and I take my garbage out every day or two anyway. What is the best diaper pail out there? cost, quality smell control?
I'm not crazy about the diaper genie II. The refills are expensive ($6 lasts about 2 weeks). And to get the diaper in, you have to push it through with your hand, which is gross with a really full diaper.
The ';Baby Bargains'; book recommends the Diaper Champ. It does not require refills because it works with kitchen trash bags, so the overall cost is much lower. Baby Bargains also gives a good rating to the Graco Touch Free Diaper Pail. What is the best diaper pail out there? cost, quality smell control?
Diaper Genie 1 is horrible. Sure when your baby's do not stink so bad its okay, but when they start solids forget it. Plus the smell gets into the plastic of the Diaper Genie, so not a wise investment. Your best bet will probably be to tie the baby's diapers into a plasic grocery bag and then take them to the dump everyday, or possibly have a garbage can outside to put them in.
I've heard the diaper genie is the best.
I tried the off brand of the diaper Genie, it was cheeper but it still smelled. Hands down the Diaper Genie 2 is the best stinky control. Its not expensive at all its like 20 somthin at wal-mart and the refills are 5
For my first I had a diaper genie. Oh, it was wonderful the first few months, then the kid starts solids. They make a thicker bag for that, it doesn't work. I stuck with it though because it was supposed to be sooo wonderful. I stuck air fresheners inside the pail, I used Febreeze. Well, its been 4 years and there's a certain scent of Febreeze that makes my stomach turn. Then they turn 1 and start milk and it gets even worse!
For my second I found the absolute best system in the world. Using my two legs to walk the diapers right outside to the trash. It works wonders, you'd never know that there's a kid in diapers living here. If you can't immediately take it out, use a plastic grocery bag to wrap it up until you can get it out.
I have used the Diaper Champ for the last 2 1/2 months and love it. There is no odor coming from the pail at all. You can use regular garbage bags so it's cheaper than the Diaper Genie. I buy the scented ones, although I can't smell the bag either. I put the dirty diapers in a small plastic bag before I put them in the pail, that probably helps, but I don't with just wet ones. It's super easy to use as well, just drop the diaper in and flip the top.
Diaper Genie is the best :) they are not 2 much but worth it from what I've heard :)
well my stepmom used the diaper champ with my lil brother....he's now 6 so im not sure if they have changed it, but then it was GREAT!!! she kept it right near her bed actually, not RIGHT near it but the room is so small pretty much, and i never smelled anything until she emptied it...she would spray febreze once in a while a clorox wipes but nothing major, and there was never a smell. She still has it and uses it for....i dont really know actually. And it uses regular trash bags.,..huge plus!
I really suggest using plastic shopping bags from like the grocery store, and putting dirty diapers outside in the trashcan. The diaper genie was such a waste of time and money. Within the first week, it smelt horrid, that's after emptying it every other day, and using bleach, Lysol, and an air freshener.
Personally I don't like any. I think they all keep some smells I change and toss in with the regular trash and take out daily. My trash can is one of those new metal type they don't hold the odor. Plastic can absorb odors.
I have the diaper champ and i love it... I think its like $30. You can use normal trash bags not like the diaper geanie. The thing that I dont like about the diaper geanie is that you have to put your hand inside to push the dirty diaper you are putting inside... ewww I love my diaper champ
